Light conduction: Optical fibers are in common use in medicine as a way to deliver light into cavities through tubes in the interior of the body. This leaves the light source external to the body. Optical fibers also can transmit therapeutic energy where needed. Optical transmission is used as part of the computer transmission lines for medical information.
