Can you tell me how are genes, proteins, and transcription factors related?

Ok: Structural genes have codes necessary for a unique protein. The genetic code must be transcribed from the DNA to RNA, regulated by transcription factors. The RNA is transcribed for production of a unique protein. Other factors determine when a gene becomes active--being transcribed--or is shut down, called epigenetic factors. Some genes are transcribed only at certain times or in certain tissues
