Gene mutations: found in families with autosomal dominant inheritance of Familial Hemiplegic Migraine impair production of proteins required to move ions, charged atoms, across membranes of neurons, nerve cells. Release & uptake of neurochemicals & signaling between neurons & other parts of the nervous system are impaired. Neurologists may use calcium channel blockers between bouts & triptans during bouts.
