Can a child with microcephaly have surgery to open up the skull and give the brain more room?

Sometimes:: Only if microcephaly is caused by prematurely fused plates of the skull. Most of the time, the skull is normal and the brain does not grow for other reasons.

Wouldn't help: The skull grows as big as it needs to accommodate the brain within. When you have a healthy brain that is genetically just small, it doesn't need more room. If your brain is unhealthy (Zeka virus damage) ,the skull will be big enough to accommodate the brain it protects, and more room won't help.
