A member asked:

What are ldh isoenzymes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Obsolete test: There are five forms of the ldh enzyme. Type i is especially abundant in heart, and if it was higher than type ii, it was a marker for heart attack. If all five were equally high, think infectious mono, type v was marker for skeletal muscle or liver injury, and so forth, type iii for a lung infarct. It was helpful but today's labs are more sensitive and more specific.
