Immune suppression: Imuran (azathioprine) is a medication which suppresses your immune system. This can lead to an increased risk of infections such as viruses and colds. Other side effects are less common, such as nausea and vomiting, suppression of bone marrow function (especially white and red blood cells), pancreas inflammation and liver dysfunction. Long term use may be associated with certain types of cancers (lymphoma, skin)
