Usually painful: Hemorrhoid surgery is often a day surgery procedure. It is usually painful for several days after as the area is healing. There may be some mild bleeding or drainage afterward. Bowel movements may be painful. But once the healing has occurred, the previous problems for which you are having the surgery are gone.
