That you learn that: in life, you cannot always have things both ways, and cannot always do what you want. Cough syrups contain depressant drugs like dextromethorphan, codeine and antihistamines, and those effects can be magnified by alcohol. This is why most cough medicines no longer contain alcohol. We make choices in life, and the choice to take cough syrup trumps the choice to drink beer with dinner. O'Douls??
