Prophylaxis: Mild symptoms of varicella following vaccination can occur for a few reasons: exposure to the natural virus before immunity was established from vaccination, poor immune response to the vaccination, or breakthrough varicella (approximately 8% of vaccinated people will develop less than 50 varicella lesions up to 6 weeks following vaccination).
