Cialis timing: Cialis should be taken at least 1 hour prior to intercourse. It does not specifically need to be taken on an empty stomach because it is a 36 hour dose. However, absorption will be affected by stomach contents, so it will take effect more quickly on an empty stomach. In order to maximize your chances for a successful erection, I usually recommend taking Cialis a few hours before sex.
