Has had some pain behind his ear, and he says it's a little numb. i looked and it seems like a pimple is there. but i'm not sure if that's the cause.

Have an exam: It could simply b a pimple that is inflamed but could also be a swollen posterior auricular ( ear) node from an infection elsewhere in the area. I would see either a primary doctor or ENT to make sure that there are no infections in the area including the inner ear.
