A member asked:

Allergic to ibuprofen & aspirin in the form of mild hives. dr gave me celebrex (celecoxib). will i be safe taking this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Watch carefully: Celebrex (celecoxib) structurally is somewhat different (it is called a Cox 2 inhibitor ) from the traditional NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen or the Aspirin family. Because of this difference you probably can tolerate Celebrex (celecoxib). Nonetheless, you should watch very closely for any signs of hives and if they were to occur then stop the Celebrex (celecoxib) right away
