It could be.: My understanding is that it is very good for anxiety disorders, including OCD. However, I have not had much luck with it so far; it can have annoying initial side effects (mainly nausea) that can be tough to get past. So far, no one I have started on it has stayed with it, either because of side effects or lack of effectiveness.

No, mostly.: But that's because it's a really new drug, so it's not prescribed "often" for anything! It IS an antidepressant, and all antidepressants are also used as antianxiety meds. This is because depression and anxiety are often considered to be flip sides of the same coin within psychiatry. If you are not comfortable with idea of the med, talk to your doc. Otherwise, maybe try it and see how it goes?

Viibryd: Viibryd is FDA approved for treatment of Major Depressive Disorder. It can be effective for treatment of anxiety symptoms. I am only to get patients covered (payment wise ) at the military facility I work at, if they have failed other medications for treatment of depression. So I am not able to prescribe it specifically for anxiety and have the full cost covered. But, it can help with anxiety.
