Many reasons: Simply put, there are many receptors for serotonin (like 7 and counting). But every drug does not necessarily interact with every single subtype of serotonin receptor. Plus, the drug may excite some subtypes while inhibiting others. So if you think about the number of different combinations that could theoretically be produced... hope that helps, be well : )
