Your're 55: Atorvastatin is not associated with the development of cataracts. However, advancing age is. You're 55. It comes with the territory.

Change nothing: Statins can increase the risk of cataract. However, the minimal vision decrease detected is nothing more than would be anticipated at your age. You've been fortunate to enjoy perfect vision much longer than most people and this slight decrease in acuity probably doesn't even require glasses. Atorvastatin prevents heart attacks so if you had good reason to take it I'd urge you to continue on it.

Statins & Cataracts: Recent studies have suggested an association between statin use and increased cataract risk. Though this does not prove that statins cause cataracts, there is noted correlation. Check with your eyeMD and PCP to discuss further; More info available at eyedoc2020.blogspot.com
