A member asked:

Can an all avm's be detected through mri? and are premature adults at increased risk of having one?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Brain AVM : The prevalence of arteriovenous malformations is 10% higher in premature infants. MRI/MRA of the brain is an excellent screening study but a cerebral arteriography with selective injections of the external carotid arteries is the gold standard for image brain AVMs.
