General anesthesia: When you get general anesthesia, you are totally unconscious and immobilized. You don't feel, or remember anything that happens during the procedure. When you "go to sleep" you'll be wearing a breathing mask because the muscles become too relaxed to keep your airways open. You are monitored all the time. Hope it helps.

Under GA: you are unconscious but your breathing continues stimulated by carbon dioxide, you will probably need an artificial airway or you will obstruct like extreme snoring, but you will breathe, although probably at a lower rate than normal, unless the surgery requires paralysis
