Depends: Where the avm was, how large it was, and what problems it was causing you. In the lung, avms can result in large amounts of blood being shunted through the lung without oxygen. Embolization or radio surgery can close these shunts which might improve exercise tolerance.

Not much: Headaches and fatigue are not uncommon. Vomiting is rare. Most patients have no other side effects. Expect every six month to every year reimaging to make sure that the avm is going away. Hopefully, you are cured!
