What is embolization?

Blood blockage: Any item, including blood clots, medical wires, bullets, that travel within a blood vessel or are placed there intentionally to stop blood flow, can be considered an embolus. An embolization means one of 2 things have occurred, 1) something has traveled from one part of thebody to another through the blood vessels, causing damage-e.G stroke or 2) someone blocked a blood vessel for treatment.

Clots moving: Clots, or other plaque, devices, fragments may move in arteries or veins and end up in peripheral capillaries or lungs(pulmonary embolism). There is also therapeutic embolization in which we attempt to occlude an abnormality -like avm, aneurysms etc.
