2 examples: It's almost always materials obtained from patients like blood, urine, hair, tissue, feces. Lab tests are done to analyze or quantify something. Urinalysis and stool culture There are imaging tests, and procedure test, not labs that are done on the patient like x-rays, stress tests etc..
