General oral...: General endo tracheal anesthesia is the most common general anesthesia given and most common for parathyroid surgery. Some docs prefer LMA which is described as a lighter alternative but uses all of the same drugs and gases. The difference is the tube. The former is placed between the vocal cords and a cuff is inflated. The latter rests on top of your voice box.
