Excision: involves excision of the cyst dissecting it free from the surrounding tissues. Most important factor to prevent recurrence is to completely remove the neck of the ganglion that extends down into the joint. Surgery is usually done under iv regional block or general anesthetic, in some cases local can be an option. Post immobilization for 2-3 weeks reduces recurrence rate.
