Probably not but...: What a tragedy! Sudden cardiac death in young athletes is pretty unusual but do happen. Individuals with a history of syncope (passing out) especially during the exercise, positive family history of premature heart attack ( before age 55), cardiac conditions with a potential to develop arrhythmia, e.g., prolonged QT syndrome, are at higher risk .
