A member asked:

An alcoholic drink splashed into my eye. chance of getting ocular herpes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Highly unlikely: someone with oral herpes had to be using that drink, and the virus had to withstand the concentration of alcohol in the drink, and you had to get enough of an innoculum in your eye to cause infection, the odds of all of which being very low. I am more concerned with the fact that this is your fear. Talk to your PCP about your concerns. A prophylactic course of antiviral eyedrops could ease fears
