Could take a while: Numbness over an area of injury is caused by damage to the small nerves that supply sensation to the skin. This can take a few months to resolve, in some cases it can be permanent . Hope you feel better!

Recovery slow/never?: Once peripheral nerve fibers (cell bodies at/in spinal cord) are damaged/interrupted, they usually attempt to regrow, slowly, maximum rate typically about 1 mm/day. However, if tissue disruption has blocked original path, they may not/never regrow fully. Without the previous fibers & changed sensory signals to your spinal cord & brain, a sense of numbness may persist, sometimes permanently.
