How long ago ?: In first trimester should not take any chance for radiation exposure . Commonly used I-131 is pretty safe , it has half life of about 8 days in wks pretty safe for normal people , with in few days. It also depends how far away are you from patient ( your dad ) close contact is needed , hospital will releases only if public safety is not compromised . Speak to his doctor for precautions
