Vacuuming is not: recommended because it turns the mercury into small droplets that can be inhaled. Bottle, don't bag the mercury & don't put it in the garbage. The amount of mercury in a light bulb is probably not enough to cause harm to adults, but call poison control, 1-800-222-1222, with the ages & weights of all exposed for info on proper disposal, delayed symptoms & risk for your children.
