Maybe: Any change in a pigmented lesion is cause for some concern, but it may simply have become irritated due to scratching or other trauma. Your dermatologist will know, probably just by looking at it.

Good idea: It is unlikely, but showing it to a dermatologist is a good idea. He/she may choose to biopsy it if there is any suspicion. We worry more if the mole is black or brown in which case melanoma has to be ruled out.
