Smokeless tobacco: Most definitely dip or snuff can cause oral cancer due to the carcinogens in the tobacco. Quitting was the best thing you did 4 years ago. Your chances of developing oral cancer are quite small at this point. Do make sure you are examined by a dentist or ENT surgeon to check you thoroughly.

Yes and probably not: Yes, absolutely use of chewing tobacco causes oral cancer. If you quit 2 years ago, and there are no signs of cancer or pre-cancerous lesions in your mouth (need dental exam to determine), your chances of getting dip-induced oral cancer are greatly lessened. There are many causes of oral cancer, use of tobacco (in any form) is extremely high on that list. Talk to your dentist.
