A member asked:

How long does it take to heal liver if u were heavy drinker for 10 years. enzymes were high once and normal the next time but start to feel bad again?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Alcoholic hepatitis: As long as you do not have cirrhosis, the liver does a remarkable job of healing itself. Avoid hepatotoxins such as tylenol (acetaminophen) and of course any alcohol. Milk thistle is often beneficial as a dietary supplement. If your enzymes remain elevated, get tested for viral hepatitis and autoimmune hepatitis.
