This can be part of : Diabetes and side affect of the cataract surgery. The swelling can indicate a leaky blood vessel. This can be treated with good results.

Follow up is key: Diabetics are at higher risk of retinal swelling after cataract surgery. There are treatments, including eye drops initially to help treat this. Follow up after cataract surgery is very important as determined by your eye doctor. Also, it's important to keep the blood sugar under control to improve healing and reduce risk of further problems. Be well.
