A member asked:

Why are most of drugs injected in the buttock but they are not injected in the thigh?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Med administration: Most drugs injected into the buttocks are intramuscular injections. The gluteal muscles provide large, easy targets for healthcare professionals. A common side effect of im injections is muscle soreness, which would not impose on daily activity as much as other large muscle groups. The buttocks is also less vascular than many other locations, making it an ideal site for intramuscular injection.
