Will breast feeding help you loose weight?

Actually yes..: Making milk uses energy/calories and so if you balancing what you eat, breastfeeding certainly will help with increasing your energy-expenditure. Each oz of milk contains about 20 calories and during the milk-making process, you burn up more calories as well. Eat healthy, take your vitamins, and do some exercises as well will help! congrats on the baby and good luck.

Yes: Breast feeding burns an additional 500cal/day! so yes, the longer you can breast feed the better it is for the baby and for your weight. It is hard and time consuming but eat well, drink lots of water to help produce enough milk and the weight will come off over time.

Depends: If you eat a well balanced diet based on your pre-pregnancy weight, the 400 calories or more delivered daily in the breast milk will equate to more than an hour on a treadmill. Some will not lose because they "eat for two" which ends up cancelling the benefit, or adding weight. You may want to meet with a clinical nutritionist to find out how to support BF while losing weight.
