A member asked:

I have ibs c. what is the difference between linzee and exlax. they are both stimulates.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No,totally different: Linzess is not a laxative! it acts locally in intestines in two ways: helping to calm pain-sensing nerves ; accelerating bowel movements. It is taken once daily to proactively treat both ibs-c ; chronic idiopathic constipation. Ex-lax is a stimulant laxative, that cannot safely be taken daily without risk of dependency. It triggers rhythmic contractions of intestine causing cramps ; nausea.
