Protocol: It has been shown that aspirin, when given in the setting of acute coronary syndrome, can lower risk of a major adverse cardiac event by 30-50%. It is protocol for emts to administer 324 mg of quick dissolving (baby aspirin) when heart attack is suspected, even if the recipient says they already took a daily dose - just to be sure. A little extra won't hurt but none at all could be harmful.
