What may be the reason for an elderly person who has reddish coloring (platelets?) on sole and heel bottoms of feet, with minimal pain and swelling?

May be normal: Reddish coloring on the sole and heel are common findings, most likely the result of increased blood flow to these areas as a result of the micro-trauma of walking and running. Have these changed recently? If so, it may be worth checking out, just to rule out infection, especially if you are a diabetic.
