Not nec coronary dz: Heart damage can occur for many reasons and often when people think of heart disease, they have in mind damage to the heart from blocked arteries. However, there are causes of heart damage not involving disease in the blood vessels around the heart. Toxins, inflammation, emotional stress, medications, and primary muscle weakess, among others, can lead to damage of the heart with normal vessels.
