Controversial: There is controversy about the pros and cons of young people lifting weights. The arguments against it include that the benefits are limited in a prepubertal male due to lack of androgens, and potential damage to growth plates limiting growth. The growth plate issues are theoretical and not really proven. It would be difficult and unethical to design a study that would answer this.
