Clinical Exam: Trigeminal neuralgia is a clinical diagnosis, with cause confirmed/suggsted by imaging studies. Patients have characteristic sharp electrical pain in one or more regions controlled by trigeminal nerve. Other than numbness, there should not be any other deficits. There are pain free periods, and initially patients respond well to the medication tegretol.
