A member asked:

Should people be scared about having a baby? how many women die in pregnancy and childbirth in the u.s.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very rare !: Maternal mortality is rare in the U.S. So low that it is expressed as deaths per every 100, 000 live births ! due to prenatal care, modern anesthesia and blood banks, most women survive even complicated pregnancies. If considering pregnancy, talk to your obgyn. Your particular fears and relative risk can be assessed at that time. Good luck !
