Dr. Marc Neff answered

Obesity gallstones: One of the risk factors for forming gallstones is obesity. But, just because you have a gallstone, does not mean that you need to have your gallbladder removed. Many people have gallstones in their gallbladder and don't have symptoms of pain after fatty meals, in the upper right side of the abdomen, radiating to the right shoulder to the back. Any of these should prompt evaluation by a surgeon.
