Benefit is minimal: In spite of what you heard, the benefit of oatmeal in lowering cholesterol is minimal and can be accomplished just as well with any fiber that will "bind" cholesterol in the gut and prevents its absorption. You can try the grain free diet and supplement it with a fiber source.
