No, but it depends.: Herpes simplex virus is generally spread by direct contact, especially mucosa to mucosa. (mucosa is the soft lining of the mouth and gastrointestinal tract, all the down to the anus). If the "kissing" is merely a "cousins kiss" lips to skin, the the risk is low. If, however, it was more of a so called "french kiss, " then the risk is considerably higher, especially if there are open sores.
