I'm not sure why: no one has answered your question, except that it is a sad, painful situation to experience. A fetus in the womb is totally dependent on it's mother for survival. If a mother is put on life support, the infant can sometimes survive but if the mother is taken off life support the infant cannot survive unless it is at or close to full term. It is a sad, difficult situation 4 both families & doctors
