A member asked:

How can i describe a drug addict?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You can't: because lots of different kinds of people develop addiction to drugs and alcohol, and there are as many differences between them as there are similarities. In other words, while the behaviors may look very similar, the people took vastly different roads to get to that place, but all we see are the people who are IN THAT PARTICULAR place. Stereotypes may help us describe but not explain them.
