Depends part of body: Computed Tomography (CT)-Head has effective dose of 2 mSv compares to 8 months of natural background radiation CT of abdomen effective dose of 10 mSv comparabe to 3 years of natural background radiation. Low life time risk of fatal cancer. Risk gets higher with repeated studies.
