Confusing question: The need for and use of antibiotics in a kid of any age should be based on the problem at hand, not some waiting period. If a kid has an ongoing infection that has not responded to one medication, it can be stopped and the second started immediately. If the kid responds to the initial med and develops a new problem 4 days after finishing treatment, a new med (not the same) should start immediately.
