Laparoscopic or Open: Varicocele repair can be done via two main approaches: laparoscopic or open. The open operation is done via a snall lower groin incision which is used to access the spermatic cord. The laparoscopic approach uses three small incisions to access the abdomen and spermatic cord. Both approaches have the same goal: ligation of the spermatic vessels. Both are outpatient procecedures.

Three approaches: In addition to the two surgical approaches mentioned above (of which the subinguinal microscopic procedure is my personal favorite [http://www.Theturekclinic.Com/varicocele-treatment.Html]) there is also a non-surgical "embolization" of the veins with a radiologist. Not and easy decision but the surgical approaches are the most reliable.
