Please tell me more about ovarian cysts?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Common: Ovarian cysts are thin walled fluid filled structures in the ovary. They are very common and occur mostly in women of childbearing age. Most are small and not bothersome. Occasionally they can become large and cause pain. Cysts larger than 5cm may need to be surgically removed because if risk of rupture, ovarian torsion (twisting of ovary) etc. They can be easily diagnosed with a pelvic US.
