Possibly: Ultrasonography can detect anatomic abnormalities (such as masses / cysts / tumors, etc...) in many body sites. This testing can be very important in helping to establish a diagnosis of malignancy. In most instances some type of cell or tissue biopsy is necessary (in addition to ultrasound and other imaging studies) to confirm a diagnosis of cancer.
